Fibre is digested more slowly than starch, and it is lower in calories (it contains 3-4 MJ less in energy per kilogramme). In addition, as fibre is digested more slowly than starch, your dog should achieve and maintain a feeling of fullness for longer which in turn may help to reduce bouts of overeating.
